| Being a doubled trigram this Hexagram reinforces the
beneficence of quiet growth. A lake is not suddenly born it is steadily
collected. It contains the nourishment the lower lying lands need. The
water stored up high without it being used is wasted. It evaporates again.
The quiet acquisition of skills, knowledge and purpose will in the end
when applied for good works have wide reaching benefits.
Hence true joyousness comes from quiet placid, even, growth. Steady happy acquisition of worth and use. To find this joyousness which is possible for all there must first of all be a clear understanding in oneself of what one is collecting for. Generosity with the water will grow crops, generosity with knowledge will reap benefits. People respond positively to positivity. There is Heavenly joy, joy brought by fate and joy of the heart. The heavenly joy is found in beauty and things aesthetic. The joy of fate is like a lotto win, or the synchronicities which bring great fortune and then there are the joys of the heart which are won by integrity, commitment and loyal devotion. Some will attempt to thwart commitment, and put on the guise of friends, but if their actions are negative, they will be revealed. Question is whether you will be aware. Vanity feeds pleasure seeking. Vain pleasure seeking wastes energy and resources. When one gives themselves up to these pleasures of the flesh they become a persons master. One loses freedom and becomes little better than a slave, wholly dependent on the whims of other forces. |
